FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know about Vaultro — how it works, who it's for, and how we keep your money and data safe.

The basics

What is Vaultro?

Vaultro is a modern financial platform for startups and small businesses. It brings financial accounts, payments, commercial cards, and cash management into one clean dashboard, so your team can store money, move it, and control spend in one place. Our financial products are designed to run on Stripe Treasury and Stripe Issuing.

Is Vaultro a bank?

No. Vaultro is a financial technology company — neither a bank nor a money transmitter. At launch, financial accounts and money movement will be provided through Stripe Treasury — with Stripe Payments Company for money transmission and account services and funds held at Stripe's FDIC-member partner bank — and our commercial cards will be issued through Stripe Issuing. Vaultro provides the software and experience layer on top.

Who is Vaultro for?

We're building Vaultro for startups, small businesses, and growing companies in the United States that want a modern, transparent way to manage money — without branches, hidden fees, or busywork.

When can I open an account?

Vaultro is currently in design and build. We plan to open to the public in 2027, with a private beta beforehand for companies on our waitlist. Join the waitlist to get early access.

Accounts & money

Where is my money held?

At launch, funds in your Vaultro financial account will be held at Stripe's FDIC-member partner bank, through Stripe Treasury — not by Vaultro. Vaultro does not take custody of your funds.

Are my funds eligible for FDIC insurance?

USD balances in Vaultro financial accounts can be eligible for FDIC pass-through deposit insurance if they meet certain requirements, up to $250,000 per depositor, per financial institution, for deposits held in the same ownership category. Neither Stripe nor Vaultro is an FDIC-insured institution; FDIC insurance only protects against the failure of an FDIC-insured depository institution — it does not protect against fraud or the failure of Vaultro or Stripe. Full disclosures are provided at account opening.

Do balances earn interest or yield?

No. Vaultro financial accounts are non-interest-bearing, and balances do not earn yield. Vaultro focuses on helping you store, organize, and move money — not on paying interest.

What payments can I make?

At launch you'll be able to send and receive ACH and domestic wires, and transfer money between your Vaultro accounts. Payments support scheduling, batching, and multi-approver workflows.

Cards

Who issues the Vaultro card?

At launch, Vaultro Corporate Card Visa® Commercial cards will be designed to run on Stripe and issued by Stripe's partner issuing bank. The cards can be used anywhere that accepts Visa cards, for commercial purposes only.

Can I control how cards are used?

Yes. You can issue virtual and physical cards, set per-card and per-merchant spend limits, apply category controls, and instantly freeze, unfreeze, or re-issue a card. Cards come with real-time notifications and automated receipt capture.

Can I use the card for personal purchases?

No. Vaultro Corporate Cards are for business needs: they can only be used for commercial purposes and can't be used for personal, family, or household purposes. Spend only what you have in your Vaultro account, within the limits your finance team sets.

Security & compliance

How does Vaultro keep my data and money secure?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, sensitive card data will be handled by Stripe's PCI DSS Level 1 infrastructure, access is tightly controlled, and we're building toward SOC 2 compliance. Learn more on our Security & Compliance page.

What verification is required to open an account?

To open an account, we verify your business (KYB) and its beneficial owners and controllers (KYC), consistent with Customer Identification Program requirements and Stripe's onboarding standards. This may include government identification and business documents.

Are there businesses Vaultro can't serve?

Yes. Vaultro serves lawful U.S. businesses and enforces acceptable-use rules aligned with Stripe's Restricted Businesses policy. Some industries and activities fall outside our program and can't be supported.
